Isabel's First Buckeye Game
We decided that this year Isabel was old enough to take to a Buckeye game. We had tickets for a few games this year, and out of the ones we had we thought that the Ohio U game would be the best for her. Dad decided out of the goodness of his heart to take her, and leave Mom with the other two kids and the rest of the extended visiting family. It really broke his heart to do so, but he managed.
My thoughts were that it would be early enough in the year that it wouldn't be cold, and it would likely be a blowout so the crowd would be pretty mild-mannered and not too hostile. In general this is usually true for any game, but occasionally there is some rough language (especially if we are losing or if it is against That Team Up North).
Well, I got my first wish ok. In fact it was blazing hot. Thank God we put sun screen on before we left, or we would have returned scarlet and in pain. The second wish was not granted as it was a very close game that we easily could have lost. Somewhat shocking at the time, but not that surprising in retrospect as we got pasted by USC the following week.
Oh well, Izzy and I had a great time, the atmosphere was nice and I don't think I heard one objectionable word (that didn't come from me).
